rectober #8
Oct. 8th, 2013 12:17 pmI was planning on catching up on podfics today, but given that I've got a shitton of stuff to do for both uni and work, I can't really listen to fic today. I am also, in the breaks, writing a fic (ace!Cas, if anyone's interested), and I can't listen to fic while doing that, either. XD
Have a bunch of old favourites instead. :)
First off,
exmanhater is possibly my favourite reader out there, of the ones I've listened to so far. I've never had a problem understanding what she reads (although I tend not to listen to fic I've not read before, so that helps), she has a really nice, soothing voice and she does the character voices really well. <3

So, why do you want to listen to this? For the same reasons as I mentioned above. Also Dean's internal monlogue is hilarious. :D This fic also happens to be one of my favourites; it was one of the first fics I read for this fandom and it's a good feel-good guilty pleasure fic. If you're not interested in the podfic, you might be interested in just reading the fic. (And no, it's not Dean and Cas getting married.)

Pairing: Dean/Cas
Author's Summary: Dean doesn't even get halfway through explaining before Bobby starts laughing. When he lets himself think about it for more than five seconds, Dean can almost see Bobby's point: he's faced down demons, witches, vampires, werewolves, ghosts, angels, and Satan himself and now he's been defeated by the God damn Midwest.

So, why do you want to listen to this? This fic is possibly my top favourite, and whenever I want to re-read it, I re-listen instead. It's the kind of slow-build, friendship first fics that I love so much, with a touch of melancholy and pain (Sam stays dead) and funny moments and fluff. This was, I think, the first fic I listened to by this reader, and it made me fall in love with the fic all over again because the quality of her voice and her reading brings out the exact things I love about the fic.
exmanhater has a ton of podfics in various fandoms at
exlibrary and at the audiofic archive.

Pairing: Harry/Draco
Summary: Draco Malfoy is waiting for his real life to begin, and it appears that he’s not the only one. Coffee, charity, and the wisdom of the elderly.
So, why do you want to listen to this? This is one of my favourite fics to begin with, and also one of the first fics I read for this pairing, I think. The podfic is lovely, calmly told and as atmospheric as the fic felt the first time I read it.
