Whatever you choose to write for me I will be very grateful, so don't worry too hard. I have lots of thoughts and prompts below but don't feel you have to adhere to them exactly or too closely. Have fun!
GENERAL LIKES:
- hilarious/funny things - i love aus and the wilder the better? also general humour, absurd situations, weird plots--if you've been looking for an excuse to go wild, here you go!
- quiet, thoughtful fic - not everything has to be off the rails funny all the time ;D introspective character studies, world building, explorations of character dynamics - I gobble it all up.
- fluff, domestic shit, getting togethers, slow burn/slow romance, characters being genuinely head over heels for each other, lots of love, snarky assholes, confused babies, exploration of gender/sexuality, fake dating, breezy fun plots, characters who speak their minds (paired with characters who don’t), god I love so many things
- HAPPY ENDINGS. no sad endings. ambiguous/open endings are fine so long as they end on a positive or hopeful note.
- queer stuff - alllll the queer things ever
GENERAL DISLIKES:
smutty, kinky, and dark stuff. I don't really feel like listing a bunch of things in detail here, but basically, if it tips the fic into NC-17/X-rated territory for sex/kink/violence/dark stuff, I don't want it. R/M rated stuff is mostly OK but overall I'd prefer the rating to stay low.
No A/B/O, no wingfic, no mpreg.
Re: ratings, I don't consider swearing x rated, so don't worry about that. if the characters swear, I'm fine with that.)
SHETLAND
Alison McIntosh, Billy McCabe, Cassie Perez (Shetland), Duncan Hunter, Jimmy Perez, Rhona Kelly
I would be happy with most anything for this fandom! I prefer Jimmy/Duncan but if you want to go platonic, that's fine by me. I do NOT want Jimmy/Tosh in any way shape or form, I see them as mentor/mentee and friends. You don't have to include every character nominated in your fic.
- I'd love to see something that centres Jimmy's and Rhona's friendship. Rhona is one of very few canon queer characters on the show, and in s7 she was the *only* person who showed any kind of understanding what had happened to Duncan was doing to Jimmy - even if not shippy, she's one of few people who understand non-traditional relationships and family structures and seems to understand how much Duncan has come to mean to Jimmy. I'd love to see how their friendship developed, and how they found support and kinship with one another over time.
- Billy! Underrated character. Something he said in s6 struck a chord with me - when Tosh was feeling queasy over Sandy's lunch, he said something about how his sister couldn't stand x food when she was pregnant. not his wife or partner, but his sister - so who does Billy go home to at night, if anyone? My headcanons range from acearo Billy to happily gay married Billy, so there's lots of scope to play here. Is it an open secret that he has a husband? is he a confirmed bachelor with a roommate? what's with the dog? What does he do when he's not holding down the fort at the station?
- my feelings on s7 are, uh, well, if you've had a poke at my AO3 you might find out very quickly. I'm mad that Duncan went to prison for something that isn't even a crime in Scotland (assisted suicide is not illegal in Scotland, that act he was arrested under in s6 doesn't apply in Scotland, it's an English thing). I'm not keen on Jimmy/Meg - s7 seemed to do everything it could to prove how unsuitable they were for each other to the point I thought they'd broken up for good and Jimmy was going to go into the sunset alone. SO. ANY KIND OF S7 FIX IT WOULD BE VERY OK WITH ME.
HAVEMERCY
Alcibiades (Havemercy), Anastasia (Havemercy), Antoinette (Havemercy), Caius Greylace
I would prefer either Anastasia/Antoinette or Caius/Alcibiades centric fic for this. platonic is also OK.
Caius and Al are my sweet queerplatonic otp ♥♥♥ I will accept anything and everything you write for me about these two. :D I vastly prefer them as queerplatonic.
I'd love to see a taken on what happens after the events of Shadow Magic - do they live together in the countryside, where Caius terrorises the chickens and Dear Yana, while Al pretends Everything Is Fine? Do they eventually have Conversations about what they are to each other, or does Al just accept that Caius is going to follow him everywhere from now on? DO THEY GET MARRIED? do they adopt kittens? or children? do they ever go back to Thremedon? ETC. SO MANY QUESTIONS.
Anastasia and Antoinette have such a fascinating relationship in canon. They both love Nico, and they do appear to be friends? allies? partners? lovers? I'd love to see something about their relationship over time, or them working together in secret, and I'd love for the relationship to be *strong*. Romantic would be great, but not necessary if you don't feel it, but strong - I'd like to think they are partners regardless of what happens with Nico, and they are united in a common goal: what's best for their country and their people. I'm big on poly and ot3 vibes if you want to go down that route and include Nico.
ASTREIANT
Istre b'Estorr, Nicolas Rathe, Philip Eslingen, Worldbuilding (Astreiant)
For this I'm also happy with anything! The world is fascinating so I'd love something that's really rooted in the setting. More food things too! It's so interesting to me that their wine doesn't seem to be made from grapes, but other fruit, and I'd just like to see more of the food culture in general. I really love how Philip's and Nico's relationship in the books is kind of understated and domestic - we don't get the big swooping romance novel arcs or big relationship drama, it's just something that builds naturally sensibly. so I'm not interested in shippy fic tbh, canon-levels relationship scenarios are what I'm after here.
I'd like to see more about Nico's and Istre's friendship, and even Philip's and Istre's friendship - we know Philip's been a bit jealous of him in the past, but I'd like to see how their friendship strengthens over time as Philip's and Nico's relationship does - what does that look like?
It'd be fun to have a silly little low-stakes casefic - a fun romp, something that showcases the world and their character dynamics.
INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE (2022)

I know my DNWs are smut, kink, dark stuff, which is hilarious for this fandom. canon-levels of this content is fine.
This is my silliest request, but look. I love this show, I love the updates, the changed timelines, Louis' new iteration, the fucking Dubai apartment, it's all so delicious, glorious, over the top, amazing. I love the unreliably of Louis' narration (AGAIN). It's all so damn funny to me, while at the same time I'm deep in my feels about everything. I love the books, I love the movie, I love this new thing, I'm living my best life.
So, in the books we know that Lestat had a career as a rockstar in the 80s. I'm waiting with bated breath to see if he does in this series as well. what I think would be absolutely HILARIOUS is that after his rockstar career he reinvented himself as like, a YouTuber or something. Doing his make up while talking about historical murders and missing persons (spoilers, they're all people he ate). He has a ''''boyfriend'''' (spoiler it's Louis) off screen who occasionally sidles in sideways to stare at the camera like he's on the office when Lestat brings up a particular historical case. Lestat's fans have conspiracy theories about the two of them.
Another thing I can't stop thinking about is this fucking Dubai flat. Before I realised we were in Dubai and my brain only registered 'flashy high rises by the beach' I thought, oh this is Miami, this is Lestat's Miami flat. WELL. WHAT IF. THIS IS LESTAT'S DUBAI FLAT. AND THE WHOLE TIME LOUIS IS DOING THIS INTERVIEW WITH DANIEL. LESTAT IS JUST IN THE NEXT ROOM WAITING FOR THE RIGHT MOMENT TO MAKE HIS DRAMATIC ENTRANCE.
consider also: this isn't Lestat's flat, this is Armand's flat and at one point he saunters in and says to Daniel and Louis, hello lovers,like he's just been reading Captive Prince back-to-back.
But also like. This is 2022, right. And in the books Louis and Lestat are at this point MARRIED. I can't stop thinking about how funny it would be if at the end of this interview Daniel finds out that they are married. Louis' defence of his shitty first marriage to Lestat gets so much funnier. a new interview because the first one he was so bitter about his messy break up! the second interview will fix this!
What if Louis and Lestat have a fight about the second interview and in retaliation Lestat gives an interview to, idk, Oprah.
To sum up: feel free to include or not include book canon as you see fit. Just please, if you're going to write in this fandom for me, make it funny. Take all the absurdity and lampshade it and do me a little Humour. There's enough of angst to go around for this already.
A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN
Jo De Luca, Maybelle Fox
I need to know everything about Maybelle. She fascinates me. Some of the things she says don't seem to add up (or, I'm tired and misremembering/didn't pay well enough attention), e.g. why does she have a photo of a random soldier as if she's unattached and not married, but also she has kids apparently? who IS she? is she the only straight person on the team? Tell me everything.
I love Jo so much. She's had to make some hard choices and I'm not sure where her friendship with Greta is. I am fascinated by the way she looks at Maybelle.
I'd love a character piece on either of them, or both of them, something that explores their relationship. Are Jo and Maybelle friends, or are they just on the same team? Does Jo have unrequited feelings for Maybelle? Is there any chance of Maybelle returning Jo's feelings? What about when Jo went off to the other team? What does that mean for her or for Maybelle, or both of them?
FENCE NOVELISATIONS
Nicholas Cox, Seiji Katayama
My favourite thing about these books (and the comics) is that these two doofuses are so obsessed with fencing that they haven't noticed they're a) gay and b) gay for each other. I'd love to see more in that vein - a story where it looks like maaaaybe they are on the verge of realising, oh, we have feelings for each other, but then they don't because FENCING.
I would also like to see a take on what happens when they DO realise and what that looks for them. How long does it take? two weeks since the end of Disarmed? Two YEARS?
My second favourite thing about these books is how Seiji's parents/dad clearly know that Seiji is queer (even if he hasn't realised yet) and that his friendship with Nicholas is queer too - even if they're not in love or together or whatever, there's nothing straight about their friendship. I love that they're supportive and love their son and want what's best for him, and they're happy he has good friends after that mess with Jesse - so something focusing on that would also be lovely to see!
Speaking of families, I'd love to see Nicholas come to terms with his own relationship (or lack thereof) with Jesse and his dad. My favourite moment in Disarmed was when Nicholas refused to fight Jesse over Seiji, so I'd like to see that a step further and have him decide at some point that the recognition he's striving for isn't worth half that of the recognition he receives from people who truly care about him (like, Seiji and his other friends).
