DEAR YULETIDE WRITER
Thank you for writing for me! I hope you have fun with your assignment. :D
GENERAL LIKES
- happy endings! no sad endings, please. ambigous and open endings are fine so long as they end on a positive or hopeful note. so e.g. if you choose to write a fic where it's ambigous whether a pair are together or platonic, that is fine! just don't make it Sad.
- complicated feelings/relationships and grey areas. some of my favourite characters and relationships are between fucked up people or criminals or people with Pasts and whatnot - I do enjoy a bit of grit
- Introspective, quiet, thoughtful fic - character explorations or world building-centric fic are all excellent in my book
- comedy/humour - works better with some canons than others (use your best judgement) but absolutely love a bit of snark and/or humour alongside the fluff or grit or angst or whatever you choose to write
- I'm very okay with angst and whump so long as it does resolve into a happy ending and in the case of whump, there's lots of comfort to follow. Love seeing my blorbo hurt and bleeding but also like, patch him up and give him smooches please.
- I feel like it should go without saying, but: queer stuff. I don't need 'issue fic' or something focused on 'queer experiences' (whatever that may mean), but I am here to queer up canons and prefer my fic to be, well, QUEER.
- if writing smut, the kinks I would be comfortable having included without reservation would be: blindfolding, getting tied up, praise kink, competence kink, biting, pegging. anything else I'm unlikely to enjoy without multiple caveats/highly specific circumstances so best to steer clear.
DO NOT WANT
- major character death, excessive violence and gore and torture (canon-typical violence is fine), dark!fic, unhappy endings, infidelity, hardcore kinks

This is a new-old fandom for me - I've been into this since the movies came out, but have only recently started writing for this fandom myself. Homesickness! I miss Danish media and Denmark at the moment. Please note that even though all the fics I've written for this fandom are in Danish, I would be very happy with receiving fic in English so don't let that put you off. (I would also be happy to receive fic in Danish or another Scandinavian language, if anyone was wondering!)
I would love any and all iteration of Carl/Assad and Carl&Assad - romantic, sexual, bromantic, platonic - just give me their ride-and-die codependent 'I'm all he's got' 'I don't need you/I need you' relationship, please.
in Kvinden i Buret towards the end of the film, Assad is seen praying at the hospital. Carl is watching him, seemingly mesmerised. what is he seeing? why does he seem unable to look away? what is he thinking?
in Fasandræberne after they arrested Kirsten, Carl showers at politigården and what looks like lockers can be seen in the background. after that we see him in a fresh suit. what if he didn't have one in his locker and instead grabbed Assad's spare set of clothes or one of his soft jumpers?
we get nothing about Assad's background and past in the films, except we know he has 'seen some things' but is still 'able to smile'. Fares is Swedish and as a result Assad has a Swedish accent (which lbr many Danes don't recognise, especially when it comes out of the mouth of a Middle Eastern person)- what if Assad came to Denmark via Sweden? at which point does he reveal this - *after* they visited Sweden in Kvinden i Buret and Carl spoke poor Swedish to the witnesses? (the one line Assad spoke to that young Swedish cop had a hint of Swedish intonation in the middle almost as if Fares couldn't help the swedish rubbing off on his lines, it was very cute) did they have a case taking them across borders again only this time Assad speaks flawless Swedish to a cashier or something unremarkable? also! Assad speaks fluent French, and he speaks Arabic - I would love to see something that makes use of his language skills in general!
apparently in book 6 (I have not read the books and do not expect you to have either) there's a bedsharing subplot that results in absolutely nothing because the author is too straight for the 'there was only one bed' trope for these guys. this trope is, however, like crack for me, so I would love to see it done for Carl/Assad :D
Something where Carl’s autism/adhd cocktail features prominently - doesn’t necessarily have to be about him getting diagnoses/meds, I don’t necessarily need or want some kind of healing journey for him either - part of the appeal for me about this character is that he is fucked up. But I would like to see a more positive spin on his autism. He’s abrasive and nobody wants to work with him but for a select very few people (Hardy & Anker from the first film, now Assad and then Rose) and he continually doesn’t pick up on jokes directed towards him or social cues or when somebody flirts with him. But Assad, his past partners, and to a degree, Rose, seem to be able to read him and accept that his brain is different and work with it, and I’d like to see more of that in a positive way. (If you're familiar with the TV show Leverage, a point of inspiration could be the way Parker's autism is handled positively and supportively by the rest of the team.) basically I'd like to see a little less 'he's a rude jerk nobody likes' from the other characters and more 'I understand how he thinks and will communicate in a way that clicks for him'.
Amberlough
Cyril, Aristide
I devoured this trilogy last year over the course of about a week and immediately needed more. I loved the world building and the plot, but the standout for me were the characters. I love them so much and I very nearly cried at the end when Cyril and Aristide made it out, safe (if traumatised beyond recognition, middle aged and with pains and aches), and *together*.
I would love a Soft Epilogue, please, in whichever form you would like to provide it. Aristide and Cyril are both so traumatised and damaged by the time they make it out, I would love to see how they begin to get back together again. I have no doubt that they love each other, but considering what they've been through - what does their relationship look like this time around? how do they find happiness together? how much healing is really possible for them? what kind of jobs/careers do they build for themselves in their safe refuge?
alternatively I would also enjoy something set pre-canon, before things started to go sideways. their first meeting, their initial courtship...when did they each realise they were in love with the other?
I would be very happy to have other characters included in the background or as supporting cast.

When I first started watching this I wanted Dulcie to dump her wife and her and Eddie to fuck nasty. (so would be very happy with a Dulcie/Eddie pwp fic.) I am eternally disappointed that Eddie is apparently straight? How??? she has mad dyke energy!!! please rectify this. :''')
anyway I am happy that Dulcie and Cath worked things out and I am OBSESSED with the implication that they followed Eddie back to Darwin. what kind of hijinks do they get up to there? I would be happy with some kind of triad or queerplatonic or poly relationship of some sort for the three of them - I do very much want Dulcie and Eddie to fuck, but I also do not want infidelity so if there is any way you can make a Dulcie/Eddie romantic/sexual relationship work without sidelining/writing out/bashing/hurting Cath then I would be very very happy.
Ocean's 11
Danny, Rusty
This film trilogy (+ Ocean's 8) are in the top five of my comfort movies. I love love love Danny and Rusty's drift compatibility, I love thieves, heists, comedy, comeuppance...I love everything. I personally read Danny/Rusty as queer soulmates and whether they have a sexual/romantic relationship or not is entirely dependent on my mood though I do lean towards romantic for sure. They are life partners in every way that matters.
So: I will accept any and all forms of Danny/Rusty and Danny&Rusty from canon level bromance to pwp. the only thing I need is for it to come through how well they know each other and that they are each others partners for life, even when/if they are currently dating/married to women.
I reject the Ocean's 8 canon that Danny is dead. I know everyone dies eventually, but but but clearly he is Not Dead, he's faking it, it's all a con - I'd love to see Danny and Rusty planning this one out and pulling it off for whatever reason you can come up with.
I would also be delighted to see a take on how Danny/Rusty work alongside their relationships with Tess and Isabel - what kind of open and/or poly relationship are the four of them in? or do Danny and Rusty have 'off' periods when they're with women? why do they keep returning to each other in that case? how do they transition (and keep transitioning) to/from partners/friends/lovers/soulmates/friends/lovers/partners/etc ?
I'm very happy for other characters including ones not mentioned in the tagset, or characters from Ocean's 8, to feature in the background. (I have a huge soft spot for Debbie/Lou! The only reason why I didn't request Ocean's 8 and Debbie/Lou this year is that I thought the fandom would no longer qualify for Yuletide so I hadn't included it in my plans.)

Jimmy, Duncan
I am always deep in my feels about this fandom and these two characters. I'm open to everything from canon-level platonic familiarity to bromance and romance. I'd love to see more of their domestic life together - since Duncan moved in in s5, what has it been like in the Lodberrie, with Cassie away from home? How have they recontextualised their relationship without her around daily?
I am strongly opposed to what this show did to Duncan in s7. I'm sure it was partially due to covid impacting filming and actor schedules, but the way Duncan was written out - put in jail for something that isn't even a crime in Scotland - I just. *weary sigh* as a result s7 imo felt very hollow and relentless on the crime plot, because it lost its emotional core with Jimmy's family barely being present (Cassie was there for I think one brief scene??) and it was a harrowing watch. so anything that would correct this - as stated I don't necessarily need it to be via romance between Jimmy and Duncan, though if you've had a look at my AO3 you'll know I lean that way - I would be thrilled by!

Laurence, Napoleon
listen, I normally request Laurence/Tharkay for this (and have written it in the past) but I would love to explore Laurence's crush on Napoleon. they keep meeting, Napoleon keeps trying to seduce him and Laurence keeps nobly resisting, but since that battlefield scene in Black Powder War where Laurence hidden in a brush watches Napoleon and thinks him handsome I have been obsessed. That scene really has been living rent free in my head for over a decade:
"Shocked, Laurence turned back around, leaning closer to the bramble for a better look: the man was not particularly stunted, as he had always imagined the Corsican to be from the depictions in the British newspapers, but rather compact than short. At present, animated with energy, his large grey eyes brilliant and his face a little flushed from the cold wind, he might even have been called handsome."
So: whatever form you want to do Laurence/Napoleon I would be thrilled to see - keeping it canon-level of frustrating anticlimactic flirting? or going all the way out to filthy fucking? I can't decide, I don't know what I want, I know I want *something*. :D
I am absolutely happy for the fic to contain background Laurence/Tharkay if you lean that way, and I have a soft spot for Laurence's relationship with Jane as well - he's my favourite closeted bisexual radical in all of fiction.
